Indian Delegation Engages with UN on Key Issues

India's Engagement with the United Nations

New York, Oct 28: India's Ambassador to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, provided insights to a visiting Indian delegation about the diverse aspects of the India-UN partnership.


The delegation, consisting of 13 members and led by BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari, met with the Indian envoy on Monday (local time) to discuss the relationship between India and the UN.


Ambassador Harish shared on X, stating, "We gain a lot from their leadership. This is a valuable opportunity for the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in New York to gain insights from their perspectives."


He expressed his pleasure in hosting the delegation during the UN's observance of Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and International Law Weeks.


"The UN benefits from India's parliamentary democracy. I am confident that their leadership will enable us to represent India effectively and help us achieve the objectives set by our leadership," the Ambassador remarked.


The delegation includes BJP MPs Rekha Sharma, Dilip Saikia, Bhola Singh, Saumitra Khan, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak, YSR Congress Party MP Mithunreddy, DMK MP P. Wilson, Tamil Manila Congress MP G.K.Vasan, Trinamool Congress MP Sajda Ahmed, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party MP Indra Hang Subba, and DMK MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian.


This group is currently engaged in a series of significant activities at the United Nations.


Purandeswari noted on X, "This diverse assembly of lawmakers, representing various political parties and ideologies, showcases the strength of India's democratic framework as they unite to represent our country on the global platform. It's also noteworthy that Sri Harish is from Vijayawada, adding a local touch to this important diplomatic endeavor."


Ambassador Harish also joined the Parliamentary delegation in honoring Mahatma Gandhi at the UN North Lawns, emphasizing that Gandhi's principles should guide all member states in their pursuit of international peace, security, and sustainable development.
